Pastures New

To all of our customers, supporters & friends, the time has come where we feel we have realised our potential in the space that we are in, and so we are on the lookout for a brand NEW PREMISES!

In the quest for our ideal plot, it does mean however that, with a heavy heart, we are marketing our shed FOR SALE!

We have thoroughly enjoyed the last three and half years, meeting all of the wonderful people that have graced us with their custom and support. This concept we seemed to have inadvertently carved out deserves to be unleashed to a wider audience, and of course, we hope you will remember us when we move on as you will be most welcome to pay us a visit once we are up and running, wherever that may be.

With love and thanks
Ben & Andrea!

(If you or you have friends that might be interested in our property, please pass on this entry. It would suit a start-up business or an existing home business wishing to extend into a first retail outlet. Below is a link to the listing.)

International Beer Day

Since today is International Beer Day we have brought in a new addition to our bar...

Menabrea is a premium Italian lager; "matured gently in the perfect temperature of our cave cellars for a taste of superior clarity. This 4.8% ABV pale lager is well balanced between citrus, bitter tones and floral, fruity undertones giving a consistent and refined flavour. It has a complicated malty, hoppy taste with an exceptional head retention due to the quality of our ingredients and maturation process."

Perfect accompaniment to some long sought after sun!

5 Stars & Summer Sounds at Stydd

5 Star

Yesterday was a precious moment in the building of Fullaloves Wines. As our tapas offering has grown from very simple beginnings of olives and nuts, to now a modest but authentic style of tapas delights to accompany your wine. In celebration we have been awarded a 5 Star rating! We're very thankful to our local food safety inspection officer (won't mention names but I'm sure she and others locally will know who I mean!) for her support over the years.

In the same week; both The Café at Stydd and Rosie Duck also; we're awarded the same accolade, this is just the epitomy of the efforts of everyone at Stydd Gardens to make your experience here the best it can be!

Summer Sounds at Stydd

Only 2 days until we host our annual party with live music, coinciding with the conclusion of this years Ribfest. If you'd like to come along, please call in for tickets, or email us at ben@fullaloves.co.uk

Introducing a Raft of New Wines to our Range

As ever we strive to find what we feel are some of the best wines around, and so as summer shows its last glimpses of warmth we have introduced a selection of fabulous new wines for you.

First up are our fantastic fizz;

Devaux Grande Reserve Champagne. Its no surprise this wine has won both silver and gold in the Sommelier Wine Awards in previous years, its rich baked apple and vanilla aroma's come from the house specialty Pinot Noir grapes, with enough finesse from the underlying Chardonnay results in a full & lively balance on the palate. Retail price £31.50, drink-in price £38.50.

Bride Valley Cuvee Reserve. Steven Spurrier is a British expert in Wine, a famed wine writer and advocate for French wine, and so if anyone is in a position to make incredible Champagne style wine its got to be Steven. Steven took over and commenced planting the Dorset vineyard in 2009 yielding its first vintage 2 years later of which we are proud to have on our shelves.
This wine made up mostly of Chardonnay grapes with a little richness from a small ratio of Pinot Noir shows green apples, pears and toast, with a lively acidity that is becoming a hallmark of English sparklers. We have it on the shelf at £29.95 or £36.95 enjoyed at Stydd Gardens

Anna de Codorniu, Blanc de Blancs Cava. Made from a blend of both typical grapes of Champagne (Chardonnay) and traditional Spanish Cava grapes (Xarel-Lo & Paralleda) give a distinctive experience of citrusy and tropical hints floating amongst the brioche aroma's from the ageing on lees, leading to a rich creamy palate, the wine currently is in stock in standard 750ml or even 200ml "Benjamin" sized bottles retailing at £13.50 and £5.00 respectively.

Innocent Bystander Moscato. Hailing from the Yarra Valley, Australia this is like rhubarb crumble in a glass; full rich flavours with hints of uplifting rose water and mandarin emanating with the fine frizzante which keeps the palate refreshed and clean. Extremely moreish and at only 5.5% abv its equally enjoyable at lunch time! £9.50 for this bottle

Codornew Albarino Frizzante, a low alcohol wine that does not compromise character as it has undergone full normal fermentation and then expertly dealcoholised so that all of the aromas and flavours are retained. Citrus, Grapefruit and White Peach are all evident in the fruity, balanced sparkling wine. On our shelves at £10.75

Next up are a some exceptional still wines;

Peter Lehmann has been described as one of Australia's most respected and innovative wine makers. So we were keen to grab hold of some of his latest offerings. especially since they have been selected and crafted from very specific portions of the Barossa estate to give much finer albeit more limited specialty wines aimed at us smaller outlets.

Layers Red & White, the philosophy for both these wines is to create a wine greater than the sum of its parts, each individually fermented (& oak aged in the red) grape in both of the blends bring its unique character to add depth of flavour. The red is made up of pre-dominantly Shiraz providing deep dark fruit character, a robust savouriness from Tempranillo, an earthy spice character from Mourvedre and all softened with a little Grenache. Both the Red & White sell at £10.75

Masters "Wigan" Riesling. Picked from Peter Lehmann's world renowned Eden Valley vineyards, to produce this dry aromatic and anonymously limey flavours with those typical faint notes of petrol on the nose which develop over the 5 years of ageing in bottle. Consistently receives awards and top end points in tastings vintage after vintage. Retailing at £13.95 or £20.95 to drink here

Superb English Still Wine from Stopham Estate in Dorset

Pinot Blanc think along the lines of a Sauvignon Blanc, but halfway between the classic Sancerre and NZ styles, the flavours are succulent whilst less sharp than many new world styles and does retain the smooth elegance that is typical from France. Full of Grapefruit, Limes and Melon

Pinot Gris Aromatic peach and pear on the nose and a fine balance of crisp acidity with a hint of sweetness that lingers on the palate

Rosé the Dornfelder grape provides bags of raspberry and strawberry fruit, ever so slightly off dry with refreshing acidity to compliment a warm summer day.
All 3 of these are priced at £14.95 to take with you, we often have these chilled to open by the glass here at £5.50 (175ml)

Our web-shop has been updated and re-opened, follow the links above which should take you there if you prefer to order and have your wines brought to you!

We're sure there is something here to set the mouth watering, so we hope to see you soon to let us know what you think!

Wine of the Month, Ribchester Festival, Wedding Open Day & Results Day

Wine of the Month
We're welcoming the Spring here at Stydd Gardens with a recent spate of lovely weather, the first of the barbecues have been lit and so we have chosen a wine to fit the bill.

The Montes Winery began in 1987 and commanded by the highly experienced founders Aurelio Montes & Douglas Murray; it pioneered a wave of improvements for the Chilean wine scene.
Their 'Classic' series Merlot from Colchagua Vineyards displaying intense colour indicates the concentration of jammy strawberry and plum flavours with just a hint of toasty vanilla spice from its time in French oak; perfect with marinated & barbecued meats.

There is a lot of value to be had with Chile, especially now they have invested heavily in their viticulture & winemaking techniques to ripen their grapes and then produce these fantastic wines. The take away price is just £8.50 from Fullaloves Wines. As always; we'll let you try a sample, buy a glass here or next door in The Glass House.

Festival Time
The Ribchester Music Festival is into its 23rd year, however it is understood to possibly be the last and so the organisers have vowed to make it as special as possible. To that end; Stydd Gardens have been invited to be part of the event this year to help make it the very best. The Glass House are hosting an afternoon of Canapes & Cavatina with Scott Robertson on Saturday 27th June, whilst in our Vintage Marquee we will be holding twww.ribchesterfestival.co.uk) Please get your tickets quick and help us celebrate what could be the very last ever Ribchester Festival!
he Festival Lunch on the final day; Sunday 28th. Both events are ticketed and available from various locations, even online (check the website;

A NEW date for your diaries
The secret garden wedding venue; Stydd Country Weddings are having our second ever open day on Sunday 21st June. Spread the word as its going to be beautiful with some amazing local suppliers showcasing their work too,
and of course, we will have the bar open  for you to enjoy an example of toast drinks as you peruse our wedding inspirations.

Results DayHaving studied for the Advanced Wine & Spirits Education Trust qualification, I was relieved to hear (whilst Scuba diving the Red Sea!) that my tuition from the excellent educator; Stephen Rosser, has paid off. Not that it was a great hard ship to get to taste over 80 different wines over the duration of the course! Thank you Stephen & Salut Wines in Manchester, it was a thoroughly enjoyable and fulfilling experience!

Opening times (Stydd Gardens)
Finally just a brief note to inform everyone that all of Stydd Gardens residents and outlets will now also be open on Tuesdays!

Roses & Rosé - Valentines special, Wine of the Month and 2 New French Whites

Gifts for your Valentine needn't be a difficult task; and we've just made it even easier for you. No need to decide between a bottle of Rosé or a fresh red Rose...make it a treat and get them both! This beautiful Sancerre Rosé with a fresh red Rose only £21.00.

Wine of the Month for this year is a big winter warmer, we have a wonderful Carmenere, Chile's signature grape variety, from the Casablanca Valley. Grant Phelps, the head winemaker at Casas Del Bosque has lead the winery to winning consecutive awards the last 2 years running of Chilean Winemaker of the Year by the IWSC.

A burst of aroma and flavour. Smooth whilst concentrated flavours of plum, black cherries, cocoa with a little sweet vanilla spice & cedarwood from 9 months in French oak, its a satisfying mouthful which lingers for quite some time afterwards. would pair beautifully with Lamb and Mediterranean vegetables.

There is a lot of value to be had with Chile, especially now they have invested heavily in their viticulture & winemaking techniques to ripen their grapes and then produce these fantastic wines. The take away price is just £9.95 from Fullaloves Wines. As always; we'll let you try a sample, buy a glass here or next door in The Glass House.

And finally having been experimenting with a few new tapas dishes such as Garlic Mushrooms, Patatas Bravas, Calamari & Flatbreads, we have added a couple of superb white to accompany them.

First up a Sauvignon from Sancerre's neighbour in the Loire; Touraine expresses a creamier texture than its counterpart with hints of limes in amongst blackcurrant.

Also; Petit Mouton Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur lie, one of the worlds great seafood wines is the ultimate match for our deep fried Calamari with garlic mayo. The wine is text book Muscadet with lemon, green apple and a hint of salinity that lingers on the finish.

Hope to see you soon to try these fabulous treats!

Ben &
Andrea

Wine of the Month; October

For our chosen wine this month we have followed the very abrupt shift in season; wind and rain brings us to Autumn...and game season! So to accompany our roasted partridge, pheasant pie, hot pots and stews you can cosy up to our "Vallon du Chene", from the region of Costieres de Nimes, France. Adjoining the south west edge of Cotes du Rhone, the region and many of the wines share very similar characteristics. Its a blend of Syrah (Shiraz) with a mouth-filling boost from a little Mourvedre, so expect Raspberries, Blackberries & a sliver of toastiness with a nice length coming from the ripe tannin.

You can pick up a bottle for £9.25 (with the normal corkage applied for drinking in) or at £4 for a glass.

You will be able to enjoy the wine next door in The Glass House too along with their Casseroles & Hot-Pots.

The Berry Box is our new Wine of the Month for August

Hailing from Stellenbosch in South Africa,David Finlayson has produced this medium-full bodied, unusual but remarkable blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and barrel aged Viognier, each grape offering its own detectable character to the wine; Sauvignon provides the zesty tropical fruits, freshness from the youthful Semillon, supported by the rich stonefruit flavours coming from an aged Viognier leaving a lingering sweetness on the palate.

A wine that's great on its own but improves alongside nutty nibbles, olives & chorizo.

This fabulous wine can be tried by the glass here in the wine bar, next door in the Glass House or to take away for £10.95 for the bottle.

CANCELLED - Spanish Wines & Tapas Evening; Thursday 24th July

It is with regret that we have been forced to cancel our Spanish evening on Thursday.

Full refunds are available for those who had purchased their tickets in advance and apologise for the disappointment

We will be opening the wine bar until late on Thursday for those who are at a loose end, as we have all of the planned wines in stock and so will open them for an opportunity to taste along with our normal food offering.

We hope to see you then!

Wine of the Month, Delta No More, Spanish Wine & Tapas Night

Wine of the Month for May

Better late than never! To make you aware that our Valpolicella Ripasso from Alpha Zeta, Veneto, Italy takes the hot seat as our wine of the month.

"Ripasso" is a term given to wines produced involving the use of dried grapes during the fermentation process of the freshly harvested grapes. This practice results in a deep dried fruit character in amongst the fresh red & black cherry flavours from the younger grapes. Having also been aged in oak for over 12 months provides opulence in body and mouth feel whilst remaining delicate enough to enjoy at this time of year.

You can enjoy our Valpolicella Ripasso by the glass in the Glass House or next door in the Wine Bar or to take away for £12.25.

Delta No More!

We were this week landed quite a bombshell when we learned that Delta Vineyards in Marlborough, NZ; is to discontinue our favourite Sauvignon Blanc. It was an instant hit when we opened our doors and made available in The Glass House, and has been one of our biggest selling wines to date.
We therefore have before us the arduous task of finding a suitable replacement. Throughout the bank holiday weekend (or until our supply runs dry - whichever comes first!) we will be sampling the selection pictured.
You are all welcome to come and try these and give your verdict, after all, these are here for all of you!

Spanish Wine & Tapas Evening

By popular request, we are once again hosting the Spanish Wine & Tapas evening in our vintage marquee. This fabulous night will take place on Thursday 24th July. Tickets are available in advance only due to demand, we are limited on numbers and almost half are already allocated, so get in quick if you want to join us. The price is £40 per person. This includes a selection of superb Tapas & Paella menu prepared and cooked on site by our good friends at Levanter Fine Foods, accompanied by a hand selected array of Spanish wines.

Here are a few pictures taken from last years event.

Have a superb extended weekend, don't run out of wine, and hope to see you soon! Ben & Andrea
