Introducing a Raft of New Wines to our Range

As ever we strive to find what we feel are some of the best wines around, and so as summer shows its last glimpses of warmth we have introduced a selection of fabulous new wines for you.

First up are our fantastic fizz;

Devaux Grande Reserve Champagne. Its no surprise this wine has won both silver and gold in the Sommelier Wine Awards in previous years, its rich baked apple and vanilla aroma's come from the house specialty Pinot Noir grapes, with enough finesse from the underlying Chardonnay results in a full & lively balance on the palate. Retail price £31.50, drink-in price £38.50.

Bride Valley Cuvee Reserve. Steven Spurrier is a British expert in Wine, a famed wine writer and advocate for French wine, and so if anyone is in a position to make incredible Champagne style wine its got to be Steven. Steven took over and commenced planting the Dorset vineyard in 2009 yielding its first vintage 2 years later of which we are proud to have on our shelves.
This wine made up mostly of Chardonnay grapes with a little richness from a small ratio of Pinot Noir shows green apples, pears and toast, with a lively acidity that is becoming a hallmark of English sparklers. We have it on the shelf at £29.95 or £36.95 enjoyed at Stydd Gardens

Anna de Codorniu, Blanc de Blancs Cava. Made from a blend of both typical grapes of Champagne (Chardonnay) and traditional Spanish Cava grapes (Xarel-Lo & Paralleda) give a distinctive experience of citrusy and tropical hints floating amongst the brioche aroma's from the ageing on lees, leading to a rich creamy palate, the wine currently is in stock in standard 750ml or even 200ml "Benjamin" sized bottles retailing at £13.50 and £5.00 respectively.

Innocent Bystander Moscato. Hailing from the Yarra Valley, Australia this is like rhubarb crumble in a glass; full rich flavours with hints of uplifting rose water and mandarin emanating with the fine frizzante which keeps the palate refreshed and clean. Extremely moreish and at only 5.5% abv its equally enjoyable at lunch time! £9.50 for this bottle

Codornew Albarino Frizzante, a low alcohol wine that does not compromise character as it has undergone full normal fermentation and then expertly dealcoholised so that all of the aromas and flavours are retained. Citrus, Grapefruit and White Peach are all evident in the fruity, balanced sparkling wine. On our shelves at £10.75

Next up are a some exceptional still wines;

Peter Lehmann has been described as one of Australia's most respected and innovative wine makers. So we were keen to grab hold of some of his latest offerings. especially since they have been selected and crafted from very specific portions of the Barossa estate to give much finer albeit more limited specialty wines aimed at us smaller outlets.

Layers Red & White, the philosophy for both these wines is to create a wine greater than the sum of its parts, each individually fermented (& oak aged in the red) grape in both of the blends bring its unique character to add depth of flavour. The red is made up of pre-dominantly Shiraz providing deep dark fruit character, a robust savouriness from Tempranillo, an earthy spice character from Mourvedre and all softened with a little Grenache. Both the Red & White sell at £10.75

Masters "Wigan" Riesling. Picked from Peter Lehmann's world renowned Eden Valley vineyards, to produce this dry aromatic and anonymously limey flavours with those typical faint notes of petrol on the nose which develop over the 5 years of ageing in bottle. Consistently receives awards and top end points in tastings vintage after vintage. Retailing at £13.95 or £20.95 to drink here

Superb English Still Wine from Stopham Estate in Dorset

Pinot Blanc think along the lines of a Sauvignon Blanc, but halfway between the classic Sancerre and NZ styles, the flavours are succulent whilst less sharp than many new world styles and does retain the smooth elegance that is typical from France. Full of Grapefruit, Limes and Melon

Pinot Gris Aromatic peach and pear on the nose and a fine balance of crisp acidity with a hint of sweetness that lingers on the palate

Rosé the Dornfelder grape provides bags of raspberry and strawberry fruit, ever so slightly off dry with refreshing acidity to compliment a warm summer day.
All 3 of these are priced at £14.95 to take with you, we often have these chilled to open by the glass here at £5.50 (175ml)
