Roses & Rosé - Valentines special, Wine of the Month and 2 New French Whites

Gifts for your Valentine needn't be a difficult task; and we've just made it even easier for you. No need to decide between a bottle of Rosé or a fresh red Rose...make it a treat and get them both! This beautiful Sancerre Rosé with a fresh red Rose only £21.00.

Wine of the Month for this year is a big winter warmer, we have a wonderful Carmenere, Chile's signature grape variety, from the Casablanca Valley. Grant Phelps, the head winemaker at Casas Del Bosque has lead the winery to winning consecutive awards the last 2 years running of Chilean Winemaker of the Year by the IWSC.

A burst of aroma and flavour. Smooth whilst concentrated flavours of plum, black cherries, cocoa with a little sweet vanilla spice & cedarwood from 9 months in French oak, its a satisfying mouthful which lingers for quite some time afterwards. would pair beautifully with Lamb and Mediterranean vegetables.

There is a lot of value to be had with Chile, especially now they have invested heavily in their viticulture & winemaking techniques to ripen their grapes and then produce these fantastic wines. The take away price is just £9.95 from Fullaloves Wines. As always; we'll let you try a sample, buy a glass here or next door in The Glass House.

And finally having been experimenting with a few new tapas dishes such as Garlic Mushrooms, Patatas Bravas, Calamari & Flatbreads, we have added a couple of superb white to accompany them.

First up a Sauvignon from Sancerre's neighbour in the Loire; Touraine expresses a creamier texture than its counterpart with hints of limes in amongst blackcurrant.

Also; Petit Mouton Muscadet Sevre et Maine sur lie, one of the worlds great seafood wines is the ultimate match for our deep fried Calamari with garlic mayo. The wine is text book Muscadet with lemon, green apple and a hint of salinity that lingers on the finish.

Hope to see you soon to try these fabulous treats!

The Berry Box is our new Wine of the Month for August

Hailing from Stellenbosch in South Africa,David Finlayson has produced this medium-full bodied, unusual but remarkable blend of Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and barrel aged Viognier, each grape offering its own detectable character to the wine; Sauvignon provides the zesty tropical fruits, freshness from the youthful Semillon, supported by the rich stonefruit flavours coming from an aged Viognier leaving a lingering sweetness on the palate.

A wine that's great on its own but improves alongside nutty nibbles, olives & chorizo.

This fabulous wine can be tried by the glass here in the wine bar, next door in the Glass House or to take away for £10.95 for the bottle.

Wine of the Month, Delta No More, Spanish Wine & Tapas Night

Wine of the Month for May

Better late than never! To make you aware that our Valpolicella Ripasso from Alpha Zeta, Veneto, Italy takes the hot seat as our wine of the month.

"Ripasso" is a term given to wines produced involving the use of dried grapes during the fermentation process of the freshly harvested grapes. This practice results in a deep dried fruit character in amongst the fresh red & black cherry flavours from the younger grapes. Having also been aged in oak for over 12 months provides opulence in body and mouth feel whilst remaining delicate enough to enjoy at this time of year.

You can enjoy our Valpolicella Ripasso by the glass in the Glass House or next door in the Wine Bar or to take away for £12.25.

Delta No More!

We were this week landed quite a bombshell when we learned that Delta Vineyards in Marlborough, NZ; is to discontinue our favourite Sauvignon Blanc. It was an instant hit when we opened our doors and made available in The Glass House, and has been one of our biggest selling wines to date.
We therefore have before us the arduous task of finding a suitable replacement. Throughout the bank holiday weekend (or until our supply runs dry - whichever comes first!) we will be sampling the selection pictured.
You are all welcome to come and try these and give your verdict, after all, these are here for all of you!

Spanish Wine & Tapas Evening

You can't go far wrong with the selection of whites we have in our range!

2010 Domaine Sautereau Sancerre, France.

Aromas of nettle, grapefruit and passionfruit, plenty of citrus and mineral flavour, with a long, thirst-quenching finish.

2011 Shaw and Smith, Adelaide Hills, Australia

Clear, pale lemon. The aroma has restrained Sauvignon grassiness and some lime, grapefruit and passionfruit notes. The palate is fresh and lively with pure fruit varietal flavours and zingy, crisp acidity.
2012 Ponte Del Diavolo, Grave Del Friuli, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Italy.

Certain to be a classic in terms of Friuli Sauvignon. The perfumes are fresh, with notable finesse and complexity. A complex array of aromas abound; it has a lovely white stone fruit character and a chalky minerality on the palate. It is completed by good acidity, perfectly in balance with the structure of the wine.

2012 Ca de Alte, Veneto, Italy.

Yellow in colour, this Sauvignon is surprisingly fragrant with ripe varietal characteristic such as notes of tropical fruit, mango and pineapple. It has good acidity and a fresh finish
2011 Delta Wines from Marlborough, New Zealand.

Classic Marlborough pungency and varietal definition. A favourite on the Glasshouse wine list.
Aromas of white currants, blackcurrants, nettles, and ripe tropical notes including passionfruit. A full palate, which finishes with fresh acidity. Currant and mineral characters linger for minutes.
