Wine Tastings, Weddings, The Chocolate Block, New Neighbors & A Weekend Break,

Hi all,
This is just a brief update following a fabulous week at Fullaloves!

Wine Tasting

Thursday 22nd was the evening of our very first and anticipated wine tasting evening, accompanied by a stunning array of Antipasti; the relatively unknown grape varieties from the South of Italy proved exceptional and we are currently putting together the orders from the evening. A huge thank you to Andy Taylor of Liberty Wines once again for hosting the event, I do believe we all learned a little something under the splendid atmosphere in the Glass house, and thank you to all the guests who came along and made the evening fantastic.
This was us "dipping our feet in the water" and I can happily say that we will certainly be doing so again in the near future so keep a look out for new dates to be announced very soon.

Our First "Stydd Country Wedding"

Congratulations to Laura and Tim who, on Friday 23rd tied the knot and entrusted Stydd Gardens, The Glass House Cafe and us; Fullaloves Wines to provide a country style wedding reception. The Bride looked stunning whilst the Groom and best men looked the part in Jeans and tweed. From our side of the bar, it looked as though everybody had a great time and we thank all involved for having the faith to have pulled off such an occasion and make it a success, all of us wish you the very best in your life together! Please follow link for more information about "Stydd Country Weddings"

The Chocolate Block

We have just taken delivery of the last of the allocation of this years vintage of The Chocolate Block, a blended red wine from South Africa. Its limited barrelage over the past few years has lead to creating quite a following with people clambering to get hold of this superb wine before it runs out for another year. We have only 10 dozen (as of the time of publishing) remaining and I expect to see these to disperse very quickly; so heads up and get in quick!
More details about the wine can be found here £19.95

New Neighbours

After weeks of anticipation, Maison De Lamond, purveyors of fine refurbished antiques, bespoke painted and distressed furniture and other vintage curiosities, opened their doors to the public last Saturday, and what a fabulous addition to Stydd Gardens, contributing to the unique and sublime feel to the whole scene.

Finishing touches are being applied to The Bee Garden, our upcoming neighbor. Maureen Little is chomping at the bit to open and offer all things Bee inspired; Honey's, Beeswax Candles, Textiles, Ceramics and more. Maureen is a budding horticulturalist and author of The Bee Garden, and will follow up this with further books whilst in residence at Stydd Gardens

Wine Tasting, Summer Cases, Gift Vouchers & Giveaways

Wines of Southern Italy; a taster

So we have now been here for a whole month, and what a month! We have been blessed by such a beautiful summertime season (until today of course!) which has given us a great start, we thank all of you who have been to Stydd Gardens to visit us, experience the surroundings and enjoy our fabulous wines!

We have finally responded to so many requests for events and now are pleased to unveil our inaugural wine tasting event. In keeping with our continental-esque surroundings, Andy Taylor (Liberty Wines) will be taking us on a tour of the South of Italy, tasting wines that may or may not be familiar to us, and the culture that influence such an underestimated region and wine-making .

Andy has been a key jigsaw piece to the foundation of our humble wine "cabin" (Chalet, Shack, Shed... for want of a better descriptor...suggestions welcome!), his knowledge and assistance in putting an initial range together for both us and in turn the Glass House Café has been invaluable for a great start to our journey.

Taking place in the Glass House Café, next door to Fullaloves Wines, tickets for the event are £25 per person, this includes tasting 8 wines and a selection of antipasto to accompany them.

(edit. we are limited to 30 spaces; since this went out, 16 tickets have already been reserved, therefore please book quickly to avoid disappointment!) If you would like to reserve a place, please call or email us

Summer Case

To accompany such fabulous weather of which we are not totally accustomed to, we have put together 6 wines we believe go hand in hand with the sun and warmth, many of which you may also not be accustomed to, but should certainly make the most of.

As an incentive for you to come and try this case we are offering a mixed case of 6 wines (one of each) at £65 or 12 wines (2 of each) at £125. Numbers, like the British summer, are limited, so make the most of them at this price, whilst its warm enough to enjoy them!

Gift Vouchers

We have just eased your burden for choosing presents, wine has easily got to be the most appreciated gift to receive (or is that just me!!). However choosing wine for tastes other than your own can be a little tricky. Introducing Fullaloves Wines Gift vouchers, so you can be sure your gift is enjoyed! The vouchers are available in the Wine Bar at Stydd Gardens, or online here

Free Prosecco

Lastly, in a shameless attempt to increase our Social network, we are giving away a free bottle of Prosecco once we reach 500 likes on Facebook. Love it or hate it, social media is part of our culture so here we are embracing it!

To be in with a chance of winning, you must "share" our posts, the more "shares" we receive, the more "likes" we are likely given, hence the quicker we reach our goal and somebody wins the prize!

You will find our page here, upon which we post all our goings on, events, updates etc.

Enjoy the rest of the holidays and hope to see you here soon!

International Sauvignon Blanc Day!

Today marks the 4th annual Day where producers, retailers and drinkers are encourage to crack open a bottle of the crisp vibrant variety and discuss in the worldwide social media gathering #SauvBlanc

You can't go far wrong with the selection of whites we have in our range!

2010 Domaine Sautereau Sancerre, France.

Aromas of nettle, grapefruit and passionfruit, plenty of citrus and mineral flavour, with a long, thirst-quenching finish.

2011 Shaw and Smith, Adelaide Hills, Australia

Clear, pale lemon. The aroma has restrained Sauvignon grassiness and some lime, grapefruit and passionfruit notes. The palate is fresh and lively with pure fruit varietal flavours and zingy, crisp acidity.
2012 Ponte Del Diavolo, Grave Del Friuli, Friuli-Venezia-Giulia, Italy.

Certain to be a classic in terms of Friuli Sauvignon. The perfumes are fresh, with notable finesse and complexity. A complex array of aromas abound; it has a lovely white stone fruit character and a chalky minerality on the palate. It is completed by good acidity, perfectly in balance with the structure of the wine.

2012 Ca de Alte, Veneto, Italy.

Yellow in colour, this Sauvignon is surprisingly fragrant with ripe varietal characteristic such as notes of tropical fruit, mango and pineapple. It has good acidity and a fresh finish
2011 Delta Wines from Marlborough, New Zealand.

Classic Marlborough pungency and varietal definition. A favourite on the Glasshouse wine list.
Aromas of white currants, blackcurrants, nettles, and ripe tropical notes including passionfruit. A full palate, which finishes with fresh acidity. Currant and mineral characters linger for minutes.

Come in an enjoy the flavours at the Glass House today, we might even stay open a little later than usual for those on their way home for the weekend not to miss out!

More critic reviews!

The positive reviews keep on coming with our wines;

A full-on blast of pure Malbec grapes; massive, luxuriant, smooth flavours of blackcurrants, damsons and some notes of dried fruits, coffee and chocolate fill the mouth and linger on the palate.
Terry Kirby, The Independent on Sunday, 12 May 2013

16.5 points
Rich and toasty. Lots of pleasure and reward… Good value.
Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, 7 May 2013

16.5 points
Very pure, clean, direct aromas without a hint of Marlborough. Bone-dry finish. Masses of crystalline fruit. Probably closest to Sancerre in inspiration. Excellent purity.
Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, 7 May 2013

17 points
Appetising and interesting… Admirably well balanced and sleek.
Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, 7 May 2013

Our wines gaining praise!

After catching up with looking through some of the various press this week I stumbled upon some critics reviews of the wines we have in on offer;

Susy Atkins in The Sunday Telegraph (28 April 2013) who picked out the Delta Pinot Noir, Marlborough, New Zealand.

One for fans of highly fruity, fresh Pinots with good acidity, this 100 per cent Marlborough-region Pinot has lively cherry fruitcake and juicy red-berry flavours and a long, succulent finish.

Sarah Ahmed of thewinedetective.co.uk (26 April 2013) took a look at some Australian favourites including our Willunga 100 Grenache 2010, McLaren Vale, South Australia

Ripe red cherry and berry fruits… are off-set by juicy acidity, an edge of tannin and pretty floral notes

Remember, if you buy 4 bottles (2 of each of these!!) we will deliver locally* for free! We are also putting some of the proceeds towards sponsorship of my 10k Manchester run in aid Child Action Northwest

Fullaloves Wines now online

The Fullaloves Wines webshop is now online.

It has taken a while, but we have finally got to the point where we can let you loose and purchase our wines online.

The intricacies of an online shop have been numerous and a hindrance at best whilst time consuming to manage, (for a novice such as myself at least) however; these have been now overcome, to offer you the opportunity to browse our selection, make your order and have wine delivered to your door.

Please bear with us as this is a temporary store front and will be updated and improved over the coming weeks, I guarantee though, that these changes will not affect the taste and satisfaction from the wine itself; I can personally say (as I'm sure a few other lucky customers will also testify to) that there are some real gems in there.

We have already been through 3 batches of the very popular Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc by Delta Wines in New Zealand, huge flavours typifying the grape and region from which it hails. Hugely refreshing when drunk chilled, perfect for under the glass house roof of the Cafe with the sun beating in (despite the sub-zero temperatures outside!).

A 2007 Reserva Rioja from Izada exemplifying rich dark fruits on the palate from the Tempranillo Grape complemented by the soft smoky aromas from being aged for 14 mths in American oak barrels; has also been a hit here at The Glasshouse Cafe, to accompany the wonderful Spanish platter available.

Both of these are available by the glass in the Cafe, so you may try for yourself before taking a bottle (or case) away!

We have made every effort to make your purchase as simple and versatile as possible and so various methods are open to you including; debit / credit card, paypal or even cash & card payment on collection from Stydd Gardens or even at your door when we deliver!

We will be available to deliver all through the Easter break, but get your order in early and book a delivery slot early to avoid disappointment!

Happy Easter from us all at Fullaloves.co.uk
